The Policy & External Affairs Committee is a vehicle through which members of the Chamber can influence and affect Chamber policy on a number of key business issues. We have members from a cross section of disciplines represented including law, finance, construction, business crime and the public sector. The committee meets every other month at venues alternating between Barnsley and Rotherham.
The Transport working group consists of those members whose expertise, experience and interest in transport matters (as operators or users of transport services) will allow the Chamber to make informed and constructive comment on those issues which we feel are in our members’ interests.
The Business Fire Safety South Yorkshire project supports small and medium enterprises in reducing the risk and impact of fire on their business premises. The key objective of the initiative is to establish robust fire safety cultures within businesses that aim to protect employees and ensure business continuity.
The Manufacturing Forum is a regional arena where representatives from the manufacturing, construction, logistics and light industrial sectors discuss key issues pertinent to manufacturing in the region.
This is then fed into the Local Enterprise Partnership, local authorities and government itself to help shape and influence the core manufacturing strategy in the City Region.
The Chamber are heavily involved in the management of both Barnsley & Rotherham Town Centres. We are well represented at various meetings and have say in some of the most important decisions which affect both the town centres.
