This course is designed to introduce YOU to the world of Electrical/Electronics at a basic level. Be it for the first time or as a refresher course, we introduce typical industry applications, key aspects of Health and Safety and the building blocks that make up a basic circuit. We look at the function of the component part from the power supply through to the work end of a basic circuit, whilst being extremely conscious of just how dangerous this technology could be if staff involved have not received adequate training.

This Introductory Level Course together with the Stage 1 Hydraulics course at a later date can lead you to the Stage 1 Electrical/Electronics (either Mobile or Industrial)

The course has a practical content, giving you the opportunity to build and operate a working circuit from a simple circuit diagram.

Course Aims

  • To ensure candidates have a better basic knowledge of a typical Electrical/Electronic circuit and the purpose of the various component parts.
  • Improve communication levels as terminology is better understood, together with key aspects of Health and Safety, resulting in improved levels of safe working practices when working with and around fluid Power Systems with an Electrical/Electronic interface.

Course Objectives

On completion of this course candidates will:

  • Describe the basic building blocks of an electrical system
  • Briefly explain the scope and applications of electrical systems.
  • Briefly explain the potential hazards associated with this technology.

During the practical section of this course candidates will be able to

  • Read and interpret a simple electrical circuit diagram
  • Build basic circuits
