Overview of standardisation work and visual management techniques commonly used in manufacturing to improve consistency\, highlight problems quickly\, and support safer \, more controlled operations. \n  \nApplied Lean Exercises sing Real Manufacturing Examples\nPractical exercises based on real processes\, products\, or scenarios from within the business. Participants work through examples to identify waste\, map simple process flows\, and consider practical improvements that can be applied directly back in the workplace. \n  \nCurrent Manufacturing Challenges and Improvement Opportunities\nFacilitated discussion focused on current operational challenges such as bottlenecks\, rework\, planning issues\, material flow\, or communication gaps. The session encourages shared learning and begins to identify priority improvement opportunities aligned to lean principles. \n  \nApplying Lean Tools\nPractical focus on applying lean thinking to real environments. Participants explore how lean tools support better control of quality\, delivery\, safety\, and cost in day-to-day operations. \n  \nIdentifying Waste\, Bottlenecks\, and Flow Constraints\nPractical identification of waste and inefficiencies within material\, product\, and information flow. Participants will learn hot to recognise common constraints such as batching\, poor layout\, unbalanced workloads\, excessive handling\, and unclear priorities that restrict flow and drive delays. \n  \nHands-on Lean Simulations: Plug Assembly Line\nA practical\, interactive assembly simulation used to demonstrate lean principles in action. Participants complete an initial assembly round to establish baseline performance\, highlighting issues such as overproduction\, waiting\, defects\, poor layout\, and lack of standard work. \nLean concepts are then introduced and applied and applied\, including improved flow\, simple standardisation\, visual controls\, and workload balance followed by repeat assembly rounds to clearly demonstrate measurable improvements in productivity\, quality and flow. \nThe exercise make improvements visible and reinforces how small\, practical changes can deliver significant operational benefits. \n  \nIntroduction to Practical Problem-Solving Techniques \nIntroduction to simple\, structured problem solving approaches suitable for manufacturing environments. Participants learn hot to define problems clearly\, identify root causes\, and agree practical countermeasures that can be implemented quickly on the shop floor. \n  \nVisual Management and Standard Work in Practice\nHands-on exploration of visual management and standardised work\, focusing on how these tools support consistency\, faster decision-making\, and early problem identification. Discussion centres on practical examples relevant to Serrations’ operations rather than theoretical models. \n  \nLeadership Discussion – Embedding and Sustaining Lean Improvements \nFacilitated  discussion with supervisors and team leaders on how to lean behaviours are sustained beyond initial improvements. Focus on daily routines\, team communication\, visual controls\, and leadership behaviours that reinforce continuous improvement as part of normal operations. \n

SUMMARY:Why are Difficult Conversations Difficult? Lunch n Learn: free neuroscience-informed session for curious professionals.
DESCRIPTION:This session explores why difficult conversations feel so challenging\, even for experienced leaders. Drawing on neuroscience\, we examine what’s happening when two nervous systems collide and how feedback and challenge can trigger threat responses linked to status\, identity\, and social belonging\, often narrowing thinking and increasing defensiveness.

SUMMARY:Together We Know More - Barnsley
DESCRIPTION:Together We Know More is a new event series taking our charity out into the regions we support. While our work reaches far and wide\, we know there are still many who aren’t aware of the support available to them. This series is about opening the door. \nSince December 2021\, our Barnsley free transport service has transported over 5\,639 patients and carers to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to receive their cancer treatment. This is just one example of the impact we are making locally\, and we would love the opportunity to share more with you. \nJoin us to learn more about what we do\, the impact we make\, and how we could support you or work together in the future.\nThis isn’t a typical networking event\, you’ll meet different departments within the charity and hear directly from the teams delivering real change in your region. \nOn the day\, you can expect:\n– A chance to step onboard our Big Purple Bus\n– Free hot drinks and pastries\n– A raffle and opportunities to win exciting prizes\n– Informative presentations\n– Time to network and connect
