This course complies with Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. \n  \nBenefits From Attending the Training \n\nBe able to act safely\, promptly and effectively during emergencies at work\nFeel confident in administering First Aid in an emergency situation\nUse First Aid equipment\nUnderstand employer duties and legislation\nMaintain first aid records\n\n  \nTopic areas covered include: \n\nRoles and Responsibilities of a first aider\nAssessing an incident\nDealing with an unresponsive casualty\nRecognise and assist with choking\nControl of external bleeding\nManage a minor injury – administer first aid to small cuts\, grazes\, bruises\, minor burns and scalds\nPractising cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)\nUnderstand the principles of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)\nAction to take in an emergency\nTreating an unconscious casualty\nInjuries to bones and muscles\nBurns and scalds\nPoisoning\nManaging the stabilising of casualties\nDealing and treating an unconscious casualty or a casualty is bleeding or wounded\nPrioritising casualties in a situation\nDeal with injuries to bone and muscles\nDealing with a variety of burns and scalds\nAnticipating and dealing with shock in differing situations\nConsidering the ways poisons can taken into the body and how to deal with them\nDealing with choking\nRecognising both minor and major illnesses\nPractice using a Automated External Defibrillation (AED)\nStabilising and managing the transport of casualties\n\n  \nAssessment & Qualification  \n Assessment is by a series of practical assessments throughout the duration of the course followed by multiple choice examinations at the end of the first day and the third day. Please note that photographic ID is required in order to sit the exams. \nSuccessful delegates will receive a HSE certificate\, valid for three years. Before the expiry of this certificate\, students who wish to remain First Aiders must take a shorter First Aid Requalification course\, which will re-authorise them for a further three years. \n
