SUMMARY:Connect to Thrive – Courting the Customer
DESCRIPTION:Connecting and Communicating are keys to helping your business Thrive. To grow your business you need more customers\, more potential customers and possibly more staff to provide your product or service. To achieve this you need to be marketing your business or should I say ‘courting your customer (and staff)’. \n  \nIn many sectors winning new business or taking on new employees isn’t a quick process. It can be compared to dating as you go through the stages of catching someone’s attention\, gaining their interest\, their desire to do something about it and finally take action. \n  \nOn this webinar\, marketing expert\, Jackie Cook from CQ Strategic Marketing and sales professional Angela Taylor from AT Management Solutions will take you through the business development funnel to create a sales and marketing pipeline for you to ‘court your customer’. \n  \nJackie Cook FCIM MSc\, Managing Director – CQ Strategic Marketing \n  \nJackie holds an MSc in Marketing Management and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute in Marketing. She has 20 years’ marketing experience along with over 15 years’ experience in engineering and manufacturing companies\, trade associations and 9 years’ professional services experience. Jackie went full-time as a marketing consultant setting up CQ Strategic Marketing in 2012 and has worked with businesses from start up to international groups of companies. \n  \nFor 10 years Jackie has been joint Head of the Pride for the Lyons Den\, a networking group for senior business leaders in the Sheffield City Region. She has also been involved with Connect Yorkshire\, a networking and personal development group across South and West Yorkshire since 2012. \n  \nJackie is a member of the Women’s Engineering Society and a STEM Ambassador. In addition she has been a member of the The work-wise Foundation Get up to Speed Committee for 4 years\, involved with helping young people develop careers in engineering and manufacturing. She was a member of the Women in Business Committee for Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber for 4 years and in 2020 was recognised as an Honouree of the ATHENA International SCR Leadership Award. SUMMARY:Dr Adam Marshall in conversation with Gordon Brown
DESCRIPTION:Build back stronger – a global approach to tackling and rebuilding a stronger resilient economic model fit for the future \n  \n\nTuesday 27 October\n12:00 – 13:00 (UK time)\nOpen to all\nRegister here\n\n  \nWe are delighted to present world-renowned political leader Gordon Brown\, former British Prime Minister\, Chancellor of the Exchequer and Leader of the Labour Party\, in conversation with Dr Adam Marshall\, Director General of the BCC. \nThis fascinating and unmissable debate\, the latest in the BCC’s Leadership Programme\, will address one of the biggest economic crises of our time – a global pandemic that has impacted the lives of all peoples\, countries and economies across the world – and the importance of global cooperation to find solutions. They will explore lessons learnt from past recessions\, in particular the differences and similarities with the last major economic crash of 2008. \nWe will hear their thoughts on the immediate interventions and future strategic considerations which are needed to address a catastrophic fallout\, including inevitable job cuts\, which will lead to unprecedentedly high levels of unemployment. They will also discuss how to restart\, rebuild and renew our economy\, in order to ensure long-term sustainable growth and a more robust and resilient global economy that can better defend itself against future major world events. \nFinally\, the former Prime Minister and Dr Marshall will also consider those big universal challenges: a new way to trade as we move into new future international trade relationships\, future tech-driven industries and a need for relevant skills\, climate change\, diverse representative leaders\, and UK’s continued competitiveness and its role as a global leader in these and other areas. \nThere will also be an opportunity to put questions to Gordon Brown\, in this unmissable virtual event.

SUMMARY:Brexit – How Ready are you\, really?
DESCRIPTION:Brexit – after years of debate\, a referendum and a General Election\, we’re on the last 3 months of the Transition Period and our separation from the EU as a member state. \nCome 1st January 2021\, we will be trading with the EU as a ‘Third’ country\, regardless of whether we have a Free Trade agreement in place or not.  With this new status will come increased compliance responsibilities & paperwork for businesses.  Indeed\, if the government does negotiate a Free Trade Deal\, that won’t mean less compliance and paperwork responsibilities but more. \nSo how ready is your business really?  Lots of companies have understandably been waiting for more certainty before they invest in contingency planning\, new procedures or training.  We now have the certainty:  we know what the two models are for 1st January 2021. \nNow is the time to understand whether you are ready or not.  Your aim must be to minimise avoidable disruption to your business. \nHow will this webinar help with that? \nWe will go through the key issues that will have a direct impact on how you do business with your EU customers and suppliers – effectively\, those issues that will require a change in your administrative  procedures or paperwork\,  or have the propensity to cause delays or add costs. \nPresented as a checklist with background on each issue\, the webinar is designed so you can check your own in-house procedures and modify or introduce new procedures in time for the changeover. \nIssues addressed include: \n\nH S Tariff Codes\nCustoms Entries\nDuty charges\nIncoterms\nCustoms procedures\nLogistics\nFree Trade agreement due diligence\nThe Northern Ireland question\n\n  \nBarnsley business rate payers may be able to access a free place on this webinar (one delegate per course\, per company) and should contact us before booking to clarify eligibility. Any companies that book on for free outside of the Barnsley area will be invoiced.
