SUMMARY:Employee Ownership Focus Group
DESCRIPTION:There are many ownership models to choose from when it comes to operating your business\, each of which has its own benefits. \nFor instance\, an Employee-Owned Business gives all colleagues a financial stake in an enterprise\, as well as a say in how it runs. A tax-efficient model\, this can be great for rewarding staff and incentivising them to go above and beyond for the sake of the wider team. \nMeanwhile\, a Worker Cooperative model is well-suited to start ups\, as these businesses are more likely to succeed in the long run. Not to mention\, they are also highly regarded by potential customers. \nThere are many nuances that you will have to consider and different ownership models will naturally work better for different businesses. To help you get to grips with all these complex ideas\, the Chamber will be running this informative event. \nSplit into a pair of hour-long workshops (broken up by an hour-long networking session and free lunch)\, this is your opportunity to find out more about Employee-Owned Businesses and Worker Cooperatives. At these focus groups\, you’ll have a chance to ask any burning questions you might have\, understand the benefits of each approach\, get your voices heard\, and to ultimately see which is right for you. \nNot to mention\, your invaluable feedback here will also be used to shape the messaging for the Ownership Hub going forward. This is a project that has been designed to help raise awareness of the different ownership models available to businesses. \nWhether you are just getting your business off the ground\, or are thinking about what will happen to it once you retire\, this is a very important decision to make. For this reason\, we strongly encourage our members to come along to the workshop event\, so that they can make informed decisions and safeguard their futures. \nThese events are brought to you by the Chambers and the team behind the Ownership Hub. The Ownership Hub is a joint project between Co-operatives UK and the Employee Ownership Association\, supporting the #1MillionOwners campaign which aims to grow employee and worker ownership in the UK. \nSouth Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) are delighted to become the first regional partner\, encouraging and supporting employee and worker ownership in your region. Working with Co-operatives UK and the Employee Ownership Association SYMCA are helping to raise awareness\, develop training\, deliver advice and expertise to create resilient and inclusive businesses that give employees a stake and a say. \nCo-owned companies succeed because they are likely to be more productive\, inclusive\, profitable and sustainable. Here’s why: \n  \n\nStaff’s leadership skills and interest in the companies ambitions increase when they become shared owners\nStaff retention and productivity is higher in employee-owned businesses because of the personal investment of the individuals\nInnovation thrives because managers are encouraged to listen to employee’s ideas and are more likely to share information\nThere is a strong sense of corporate social responsibility due to the open way in which the business is ran\nIndependent research suggests that a combination of shared ownership and employee participation delivers superior business performance\n\n  \n11am – 12noon – Focus Group \n12noon – 1pm – Lunch and Networking

SUMMARY:LGBTQ+? What you need to know about your money now\, and in future
DESCRIPTION:CLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR PLACE\n  \nWhat LGBTQ+ people need to consider in their financial plan. The impact being LGBTQ+ has on your money. The need to make a Will. \nAbout Jamie\, his journey as a queer person\, and why he founded True Self Wealth Ltd.2. What is financial planning?3. Why is financial planning different for the LGBTQ+ community?– The wealth gap caused by discrimination– Paying for private healthcare for transition or starting a family– Affording retirement in a prime queer location– Different family structures– Dealing with divorce– The impact of mental health issues and reduced headspace– The importance of making sure your life insurance and pension nominations or letter of wishes are up to date– What do you do when your family aren’t supportive?4. What do LGBTQ+ individuals need to think about?5. What do LGBTQ+ business owners need to think about?6. Our guest speaker\, Scott Walker will cover the importance of making a Will and Powers of Attorney.* \nA bit more about Jamie \nJamie Lowe always wanted to be a financial planner. From a young age he understood that money wasn’t important\, it’s what you do with it that counts. Everyone only gets a certain amount of money so everyone has to prioritise. Jamie became a financial planner in 2018 working for a company to help people with their money and work out what’s important. He felt accepted but wanted to do more for the LGBTQ+ community so he set up True Self Wealth Ltd. Financial planning is different for us\, so it’s important to have an adviser who knows the differences and won’t judge their circumstances. His passion to help the community as much as possible. \nA bit more about Scott \nFor 15 years\, Scott has been helping clients to achieve peace of mind and to deal with the practicalities of death and old age. Scott has a built up a wealth of experience in Wills and Probate. He has been a consultant at Richard Nelson Solicitors since January 2022. He made the career move so that he can serve his clients flexibility by providing a safe and inclusive space. Scott’s approach is friendly and down to earth. He understands the need for sensitivity and to listen to your needs at what can be a stressful and upsetting time. \n*Will writing and Powers of Attorney involve the referral to a service that is separate and distinct to those offered by St. James’s Place and are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. \nTrue Self Wealth Ltd. is an Appointed Representative of and represents only St. James’s Place Wealth Management plc (which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority) for the purpose of advising solely on the group’s wealth management products and services\, more details of which are set out on the group’s website www.sjp.co.uk/products. \n  \nCLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR PLACE
