SUMMARY:Enhancing Power Resilience and Securing Business Operations Within A Net Zero World
DESCRIPTION:BOOK YOUR PLACE HERE \n  \nAs the share of renewable energy sources on the UK energy network continues to increase\, causing concerns regarding the stability of the network\, many businesses\, especially high energy intensive organisations\, cannot afford to risk disruptions to their operations due to energy-related failures\, such as blackouts or brownouts\, and are now looking at solutions to meet their power resilience needs. \nThis webinar will examine the impact of becoming a power resilient organisation\, alongside the technologies available to help companies achieve this goal. This is particularly important when existing traditional uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems do not meet all the needs of the site\, and Powerstar’s specialist technical appraisal and modelling capabilities ensures the most complex projects are feasible before continuing. \nTaking place on Wednesday 19th May\, this webinar will help your business understand the issues power outages can cause\, as well as how a bespoke power resilience solution can help protect your business from multiple operational risks. During the webinar several examples of businesses who are already experiencing protection from Powerstar’s energy resilient solutions will be presented and discussed. \n  \nBOOK YOUR PLACE HERE

SUMMARY:One Year On: Shaping the national recovery effort
DESCRIPTION:2020 was a modern year like no other. The Covid-19 pandemic will continue for some time yet\, but recovery must start now. We are learning to live with this virus. Jobs and livelihoods depend on getting our economy back up and running in full. \nIn the last 12 months our response to the pandemic has been both global and local. A worldwide event has involved individuals and businesses focussing on issues closer to home. It is natural in the face of a new threat to look inwards and to protect what you have. \nAs the country begins to emerge from the worst of the pandemic\, now is the time to lift our gaze and scan the horizon. To spot new opportunities. To consider new innovations. A lot of what we do next as a country will be driven at a local level and within individual businesses\, but more so than ever\, we need to come together. \nThe British Chambers of Commerce are a network of 53 accredited Chambers who span the entirety of the UK. We represent tens of thousands of businesses of all shapes and sizes\, which employ almost six million people. Sheffield Chamber have joined up with Devon and Plymouth Chamber to explore how businesses\, wherever they are based\, can help shape the national recovery effort. \nThere is a risk that levelling up becomes levelling down. That the North Vs the South becomes the dominant theme of the next few years. Businesses have an opportunity to lead the way. They have an opportunity to say that\, wherever we are based\, our recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic will stem from our ability to work together. \nTo focus the discussion\, we will explore four key themes: \n\nEnvironment: Businesses role in net zero\nTransport: Regional and global connectivity supporting economic growth\nSkills: Shaping the workforce of the future\nTechnology: Embracing new and emerging technologies\n\n  \nYou are invited and you can engage. The event will assume a ‘Question Time’ style format providing you the opportunity to submit a question in advance for our expert panel to consider. \nFocusing on the environment\, transport\, skills\, and technology where do you see the opportunities for business? Equally\, what support is required from Government to act as a stimulus for growth and what are the challenges? \nSubmit your questions to: events@doncaster-chamber.co.uk \nThe debate will be shaped and hosted by The British Chambers of Commerce Co-Executive Director\, Hannah Essex.\nFurther details on our panellists are included below. Do not miss your opportunity to join fellow business leaders from across the country for an interactive and informative session. \n  \nHost and Panellists \nHost: Hannah Essex\nHannah Essex is Co-Executive Director at the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) a role she shares with Claire Walker. BCC sits at the heart of a business network that spans the length and breadth of the UK\, with links to markets across the world.\nClaire and Hannah lead the British Chambers campaigns\, communications\, public affairs\, policy and senior representative work on behalf of the Chamber Network. \nPanellist: Martin McKervey \nMartin is a Director of AESSEAL plc- a global manufacturing company with a net zero carbon footprint in it’s UK operations.\nMartin is Chair of the Sheffield Property Association\, Vice Chair of the Sheffield Culture Collective and a Non Executive Director of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce.\nHe has a broad portfolio of work as a trustee in a number of charitable and voluntary organisations.\nMartin is the High Sheriff of the County of South Yorkshire nominate for 2021/22. \nPanellist: Luke Pollard MP\nAs Shadow Secretary for the Environment Luke has been at the centre of Westminster politics during the coronavirus pandemic\, whilst also representing the business and public communities of his constituency in Plymouth. SUMMARY:Getting more business from the Public Sector
DESCRIPTION:The Public Sector is a big customer and includes Local Authorities\, Health & Care\, Emergency Services\, Education and Central Government: In 2019 £93bn of public sector contracts were awarded and that will have only grown in 2020. With new procurement rules in the process of being agreed and a drive from Government to ensure that public sector work is delivered through a broad and diverse business base\, now could be a great time to get involved or add to what you’re already doing in this sector. \nThe webinar gives an introduction and overview of a program called Go4Growth designed specifically for SMEs and VCSEs who are either starting out\, or aspiring to grow their business within the public sector. It has typically been too difficult for many smaller organisations to get involved and so Go4Growth is a free program to help organisations of any type and in any sector to identify and remove obstacles and to ensure that they have all the right skills\, know-how and tools in order to take advantage of the public sector work on offer. \nWe will also hear from Barnsley Council Head of Procurement about the work they are doing to develop smaller organisations within the area and their commitment to supporting local talent and being truly open for business.
