SUMMARY:Five essential steps business owners must consider to safeguard the health & wellbeing of their employees working from home.
DESCRIPTION:Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic\, many UK employees are now working from home for the foreseeable future. It will be the first experience for a vast amount of companies and employees. \nWorking from home has its advantages but being away from the office and social interaction of an office can take its toll. \nResearch by the Office of National Statistics highlights that 30% of UK employees ever worked from home during 2019. \nAlso\, a United Nations report 2017 found that 41% of remote workers reported high-stress levels\, compared to just 25% of office workers. \nRemote working becomes the new norm for many; it’s imperative businesses change and put the appropriate mental health and wellbeing policies in place to ensure their employees feel part of the organisation and don’t become detached. \nIn this seminar\, I will share with you key actions organisations can adopt to improve the wellbeing of their team who are now working remotely. \n\nThe importance of scheduling daily team briefings\nAn opportunity to train your employees\nWhy you must be more visible\nIntroduce health & wellbeing activities\nAdopt a willingness to go the extra mile

SUMMARY:Resilience in a Time of Crisis
DESCRIPTION:In 1962\, Dame Stephanie (Steve) Shirley created a software company\, Freelance Programmers when the concept of software barely existed. \nThrough her business Steve empowered a generation of women in technology\, giving them unheard of flexibility in their working pattern. She went on to create a global business and a personal fortune shared with her colleagues; through transfer of ownership she made 70 of her staff millionaires. \nSince retiring in 1993\, her focus has been increasingly on philanthropy based on her strong belief in giving back to society. Steve’s personal journey is as compelling as her trailblazing career\, and her engrossing life story is filled with lessons in human resilience in a time of tragedy and crisis\, never more relevant than in the world today. \nIn this very personal conversation with ‘Steve’\, we aim to gain insight into the lessons we might learn as people and as businesses from a long personal journey in life\, business\, entrepreneurship and philanthropy of a person who has been recognised during her life as one of the 100 most powerful women in Britain and a pioneering workplace revolutionary.

SUMMARY:What does the impact of Coronavirus mean for UK/EU-German relations?
DESCRIPTION:Germany is the UK’s 2nd largest trading partner after the US\, beyond the EU as a whole. \nThe UK and German governments work together on trade/ investment\, economic\, political\, cultural\, defence and security matters and benefit from a close relationship that is based on mutual respect and trust. \nThe UK’s recent withdrawal from the EU has led to concern about how future bilateral relations will be impacted. Both countries have pledged to ensure that these economic\, political and cultural ties are not severed\, but if anything\, intensified. \nHowever\, the recent global pandemic crisis is inevitably placing strain on all economies across the world and the negative effects of Coronavirus on both economies will clearly add to those already existing due to Brexit challenges. \nIt is predicted that many negative effects will occur especially in industry\, and particularly in respect of supply chains. It is expected that trade will resume fully only once Coronavirus restrictions are lifted and\, depending on Brexit negotiations\, be further hindered from the uncertainty brought about by the UK’s insistence that\, irrespective of the effects of the pandemic\, it does not plan to extend the Brexit transition period\, which could again raise the question around whether the UK will exit the EU on WTO terms. \nJoin us for this fascinating webinar discussion between colleagues from the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany and our Director General\, Adam Marshall. \nAndreas Glunz\, Member of the Advisory Board of the BCCG (and Managing Partner\, KPMG)\nTuesday Porter\, Member of the Supervisory Board of TüV Nord AG\nGerd Stürz\, Vice President of the BCCG
