The Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity is appealing for sponsorship to enable a children’s entertainer to continue to spread a little magic at Rotherham Hospital.

For the past year, poorly children cared for by The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust have received tricks as well as treatment thanks to an entertainer called Magic Tom, funded by the charity’s Dr Ted children’s appeal.

The charity is appealing for local businesses, organisations, schools or individuals to help raise funds to enable Magic Tom to continue visiting patients for another year.

Magic Tom, also known as Tom Hodgson, has been a professional magician for 15 years. He said: “When I arrive on any Children’s Ward I usually find some very anxious youngsters and equally nervous parents, which is understandable if the child is poorly or waiting for an operation.

“But with a few card tricks, treats and games I can leave them laughing and smiling. Raising their spirits with a bit of magic is a great distraction technique and the most rewarding thing ever.”

– £50 could fund one, hour-long visit from a children’s entertainer like Magic Tom.
– £600 would enable a children’s entertainer to visit Rotherham Hospital once a month for a year.
– £1000 could fund 20 hospital visits, which will cheer up more than 250 children.
