John Healey joined in the anniversary celebrations at Parkgate fibreglass manufacturer Stuart Pease.

Late last year, the local MP was given a tour of the business which was established in 1978 and is now one of the most experienced in the industry.

John said: “Stuart started the company in his garden shed and has grown his reputation over the last 40 years. He’s well known in the industry for producing components for a wide range of products and has provided items for national and multi-national companies such as Coca-Cola, Jaguar and Alton Towers.

“It was great to get a glimpse of the work that goes on at the site in Parkgate and good to hear how the businesses has grown.

“I wanted to pass my congratulations on to everyone that has been involved in providing excellent service to the fibre glass industry and to our Rotherham borough. It’s small firms like Stuart Pease that are the heart of our town and our economic future.”

In the early years the company was mainly manufacturing components for the leisure and Chemical industries and is now a major innovator in the field of glass reinforced plastics.

Director Glenn James said: “We’re moving from strength to strength and have more than doubled our workforce since moving to Parkgate in 1985.

“We’re proud of our history and we’re delighted to show John some of the projects that we have been working on for many household name companies.”

Stuart Pease’s primary manufacturing facility is based at Taylors Close in Parkgate and employs around 30 genuine craftsmen utilising hand moulding techniques.
