Elliot named as Premier League Community Captain
We are delighted to announce Elliot as our Community Captain as part of the Premier League’s More Than a Game campaign. Elliot is one of only 93 Community Captains recognised across the country this season, celebrating individuals who have made an outstanding impact within their local communities and we could not be prouder to see him honoured in this way.
Elliot is one of the 578 young people we support through our Premier League Kicks sessions in Barnsley, made possible through continued investment from the Premier League. His journey with us has been remarkable, and this award reflects the dedication and character he brings to our programmes.
We were thrilled to welcome Reds winger Reyes Cleary to present Elliot with his award, acknowledging his leadership, commitment and the inspiration he provides to everyone around him.
Why Elliot Was Chosen
Elliot has been a valued member of our Premier League Kicks programme for many years. From the moment he steps onto the pitch, he demonstrates strong leadership, but it’s his behaviour off the pitch that truly sets him apart. He consistently shows empathy, kindness, and enthusiasm qualities that have a positive impact on participants of all ages.
He goes out of his way to support others, offering motivation and encouragement to ensure everyone feels welcome and involved in each session. His generosity and character make him a role model for his peers and a fantastic ambassador for our Trust.
A Journey of Growth
When Elliot first joined our sessions, he was quiet and often held himself back. Over time, his confidence has grown tremendously. Through his involvement with Premier League Kicks, he progressed into our Post‑16 education programme, where he has thrived academically and personally. We are incredibly proud that he has now been selected to continue his studies in America, a huge achievement and a testament to his hard work.
Elliot embodies everything we strive to achieve through our Premier League Kicks delivery. His journey shows how football can build confidence, open doors, and inspire young people to reach their full potential.
A Well‑Deserved Honour
We hope this Community Captain award helps Elliot understand just how much we value the effort, commitment and positivity he brings to both Premier League Kicks and our Post‑16 programme. He is a shining example of why we do what we do, and we are excited to continue supporting him as he takes his next steps.
