Treat your business to Dog and Doughnuts
Local charity HOPE is urging Chamber members to take part in their latest fundraising initiative.
They are asking businesses to invite the HOPE team, including Oliver the therapy dog, to visit their office or workplace with a tray of doughnuts. At break time or over lunch, staff can pop along to meet Oliver, the therapy dog, learn about the services that HOPE provides and help themselves to a doughnut, in exchange for making a donation.
The money raised will help HOPE in providing traumatic bereavement support for families in South Yorkshire who have had a loved one killed in a road traffic collision, fire or drowning.
Project co-ordinator Joanne said, “Oliver, our therapy dog, provides emotional support to bereaved family members who we support at HOPE. Studies have shown that interacting with animals can boost mood and reduce stress. Oliver is specially trained to be gentle and friendly and accept strangers petting them. He’s always keen to say hello to people, which makes him a big draw at events.”
Businesses can learn more about the services that HOPE offers to those who have suffered a sudden, traumatic bereavement. It may be that staff members have experienced such a loss and businesses may be concerned about their wellbeing and the impact this will have on individual members of the team and the wider workforce. If people have suffered a sudden, traumatic bereavement specifically through a road traffic collision, fire or drowning, businesses can signpost employees to HOPE to provide support.
Charity Operations Manager, Maryann said, “We’d love to visit your business and speak to your staff. Any donations we receive are very welcome. HOPE is a small charity and all the services we offer are free of charge. We rely on grants and donations to fund our activities.”
Businesses can make corporate donations via the Charities Aid Foundation or via the Donate Now button on our website.
