ACW Medical Services Shortlisted for Prestigious ‘Campaign of the Year’ Award
ACW Medical Services, a dedicated family-run provider of first aid services and training, has been officially shortlisted for the Campaign of the Year award at the upcoming Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. The prestigious ceremony will take place this Friday, November 14.
The shortlisting recognises ACW Medical Services’ pioneering #SARAHsays campaign, which champions inclusive first aid and directly addresses the stark health inequality faced by women requiring CPR. Data shows women are 28% less likely to receive life-saving CPR from a bystander than men, primarily due to “fear,” “embarrassment,” and “doubt.”
#SARAHsays, which launched on International Women’s Day, is a powerful grassroots movement that confronts these barriers by unashamedly sharing content that correctly demonstrates how to resuscitate someone with breasts. The campaign’s bold, honest messaging and well-shared educational video, which has achieved over 1.4 thousand organic YouTube views, was a catalyst for conversation, attracting media attention from BBC Radio Sheffield, BBC online and The Yorkshire Post, and gaining support from professional women’s football teams.
“As a family-run business with decades of experience serving in NHS settings, we are outspoken advocates of inclusive first aid training and healthcare equality,” said Kelly Wooller, Managing Director of ACW Medical Services. “The #SARAHsays campaign was driven by a passion to deliver real change for women. To be shortlisted for the Campaign of the Year award is wonderful recognition of the hard work and the impactful conversations we’ve sparked across South Yorkshire and beyond. Together we are levelling the playing field, saving lives, and preventing deaths due to doubt, embarrassment or fear.”
The campaign, which connected the vital ‘how to’ instructions with the legal protection offered by the Social Action Responsibility and Heroism (SARAH) Act 2015, has galvanised communities, workplaces, and schools into taking specific #SARAHsays workshops. ACW Medical Services looks forward to the awards ceremony and continuing its work to drive positive change in first aid practice.
