Alhambra Centre raises over £17,000 for Bluebell Wood

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice has praised Barnsley’s Alhambra Centre for its support and generosity after the shopping complex raised over £17,000 for the charity in just two years.

The North Anston Hospice, which supports families across South Yorkshire, has been the Alhambra’s charity of the year for the past two years.

Throughout that time staff and shoppers have dug deep to raise as much as possible for Bluebell Wood.

Steph Higham, Alhambra Centre Marketing Manager, said: “It’s been a privilege supporting Bluebell Wood and we’re proud to have raised such a fantastic sum to help support local families who are going through the most difficult of times.

“From our One Great Day to our hugely popular Santa’s Grotto and much more, our brilliant colleagues have consistently gone above and beyond to raise as much as possible.

“We’d like to thank everyone for their support and all those who have given so generously to such a wonderful cause.”

As well as the many fundraising events and regular bucket collections the Alhambra Centre have held over the past two years, brave colleagues have also taken part in Bluebell Wood’s ‘It’s a Knockout’ event to help raise funds for the charity.

Anna Gott, Community Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, said: “We’d like to thank everyone at the Alhambra Centre for raising such an astonishing sum for Bluebell Wood and all our amazing volunteers who’ve supported us along the way.

“Thanks to your dedication and generosity we’re able to make a real difference to children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions in Barnsley and beyond.

“We’d also like to give a special mention to the wonderful John Tarrant – Alhambra, Centre Manager – who sadly passed away recently. John was a real friend to Bluebell Wood and a fantastic supporter and advocate over the years. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.”
