City Taxis take on Barnsley Hospice Accumulator Challenge

City Taxis has announced that they will be taking on Barnsley Hospice’s Accumulator Challenge this May, in a bid to raise money for their Barnsley charity of the year.

In support of the challenge, the private hire operator has committed to donating 10p from every completed journey in Barnsley, throughout May.

City Taxis joins 17 other local Barnsley businesses who have agreed to take on the challenge to raise as much money as possible for the charity, using a £31 loan provided by Barnsley Hospice’s very own ‘Lord Sweetener’. Over the past five years, the annual event has raised nearly £70,000.

Simon Atkinson, Corporate Partnerships Manager and ‘Lord Sweetener’ of Barnsley Hospice, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at City Taxis for taking part in our Accumulator Challenge.

“We have heard about their exciting plans for the month and appreciate the efforts they have gone to support us in this way.

“It’s great that people can travel across the borough this month and support the hospice at the same time. Thank you, City Taxis!”

Sacha Skinner, Marketing Manager of City Taxis, said: “When Simon told us that the hospice was bringing back their Accumulator Challenge for 2023 we jumped at the chance to be involved.

“We’re always looking at new ways to support our local charities, and even better when there’s a friendly challenge involved!”

City Taxis was recently acquired by the UK’s fastest-growing taxi and private hire technology platform, Veezu. With a strong focus on hyper-local activity, Veezu ensures that brands like City remain at the heart of the community and are empowered to continue supporting their chosen charities of the year.
