Following the success of the Better Homes Barnsley scheme, Barnsley Council is seeking tradespeople to register their interest in working with them to deliver energy efficiency measures to support improvements of private sector housing stock across the borough.

As part of the drive towards Zero45, the council is planning work to improve energy efficiency in homes, ranging from wall, loft and floor insulation to low carbon energy solutions such as solar PV and heat pumps. A Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) is being established, which is like an electronic supplier list and will host opportunities in Barnsley and other South Yorkshire authorities.

Local and regional contractors are invited to be involved and have the opportunity to work with the council. ECO delivery partners who can access external funding to help meet the costs for vulnerable residents are also encouraged to register their interest.

Applications to join the supplier list are being accepted through YORtender.

Cllr Tim Cheetham, Cabinet Spokesperson for Regeneration and Culture, said: “We understand the need to tackle the climate emergency in Barnsley, and establishing an electronic supplier list for green improvements is a great place to start.

“We want to engage with local businesses to support the local economy, and we welcome a variety of tradespeople to see what opportunities are available. The supplier list may also be used by other South Yorkshire authorities so there will be plenty of work opportunities across the whole region.”

Applicants can find more information by visiting Barnsley Council’s website.
