Nurses offered behind the scenes insight into Bluebell Wood

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is offering nurses a behind-the-scenes insight into its life-changing work with two special open days.

The open days – on the 18^th and 29^th March – will give nurses considering a career change the chance to look beyond the myths and see what a happy place a children’s hospice really is.

It comes after Bluebell Wood recently launched a recruitment drive for six new nursing positions, four in the hospice and two in the community.

Community Team Leader Mandy Binney joined Bluebell Wood Care Team in 2015 after a 28-year career in the NHS. Joining as a Care Team Nurse, Mandy now leads the growing Community Team at Bluebell Wood.

“I’m incredibly proud to wear my purple Bluebell Wood T-shirt and I’m passionate about the work we do here,” she said.

“Care in a children’s hospice is very different to anywhere else. At Bluebell Wood we’re able to spend quality time with children and families, without having the constant ward pressures you might encounter elsewhere.

“We’re able to form those meaningful relationships with families and we’re very much led by their individual needs. This is what nursing is all about for me.”

The nurse recruitment open days will include a tour of the hospice, opportunities to chat to members of the Care Team and much more.

The open days will be held between 4 – 7pm on March 18^th, and 10am – 2pm on March 29^th.
