South Yorkshire Transport Museum – don’t miss this hidden gem in Rotherham!

The South Yorkshire Transport Museum (SYTM) has recently joined the ‘Chamber’.

As an accredited, independent museum, in modern premises at Waddington Way, Aldwarke, S65 3SH; it advances public education by housing a permanent display of interesting historic vehicles, transport related artefacts and archives. SYTM promotes permanent preservation of all historic vehicles, equipment and items of general transport interest, plus has a heritage bus hire operation.

SYTM is a charity (a company limited by guarantee) entirely run by its voluntary members. Some of the members are involved in vehicle restoration whilst others staff the book and gifts shop, or operate the cafe, or host visitors on ‘open days’ andor for group visits (from organisations, schools and care centres). The Museum is a serious undertaking but one that provides enjoyment for visitors and for its members a pleasurable and satisfying hobby. As such, people with an interest in historic transport are always welcome to contact it – those with a PCV licence especially so. See www.sytm.co.uk for more information.

The ‘open days’ – usually with a specific theme – e.g. 1940’s Christmas – and modest admission fee for adults, are always on the second Sunday of each month. As confirmed by TripAdvisor; they are enjoyable for visitors of all age groups.
