Steel City Marketing Ltd.’s MD James Biggin Completes The 128th Boston Marathon!

Hit with 22-degree heat on race day, combined with the gruelling Newton Hills (famously dubbed ‘Heartbreak Hill’), James Biggin crossed the 2024 Boston marathon finish line in just 3 hours, 11 minutes, and 43 seconds.

“I am still pinching myself at having run the world’s oldest annual marathon. The crowds, the noise, the atmosphere – what an incredible experience it was” James recalls.

Having undertaken a strict training plan in the wind and rain of Sheffield for 16 weeks prior and following qualifying in October 2022 at York with a 2-hour 55-minute marathon, Boston was the toughest run James has ever completed. Yet still he managed to be placed 545th in his age category, and 4,965th overall among 30,000 runners.

James’ wife Rachel also completed the Boston Marathon, with an amazing time of 3 hours and 53 minutes.

“Being bused out to the starting line in a yellow school bus, listening to “Star Spangled Banner” with the other thousands of runners in my wave in complete silence, and watching two F35 jets flyover as the elites started racing, are all moments I will never forget.” James recalls.
