The Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity is encouraging youngsters to wear their pyjamas with pride this February.

Lockdown life means we are all wearing our joggers, dressing gowns and onesie’s more than usual. We now need children throughout Rotherham to don their super sleepwear and host a pyjama party to raise funds for the charity.

Your pyjama party could be held at home, with your school buddies or virtually with your extended family and friends – don’t forget, you must be accompanied by an adult. You just need to wear your favourite jim-jams or onesie and donate a minimum of £1 each to take part.

Martin Havenhand, Chairman of The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We know fundraising for charity is tough right now so we hope our pyjama party challenge will provide some much needed lockdown fun and inspire youngsters to support the charity. Grown-ups can get involved too of course. The funds raised will really make a difference to your local NHS charity in 2021.”

All the funds raised for the charity will help to provide the extra special, added extras for patients and their families which the NHS would ordinarily not be able to afford.

How to get started

Decide where you’ll wear your pyjamas

Will you host a pyjama party at school or at home? (Or at work if you’re a grown up!) If you’re feeling adventurous, you could wear your pyjamas on a sponsored walk or cycle. Don’t forget to ask your parents or teachers for permission first.

Pick a date

Our pyjama party challenge will run throughout February 2021 – you can host your event on any day you choose.

All for onesie! Invite your friends

Once you have set a date, invite your siblings, school friends or neighbours to join you. Remember: your event will need to be held virtually via Skype or Zoom unless it is with your family bubble or school friends.

Fundraise – how much can you raise?

Let the party begin! Your pyjama party is the perfect opportunity to put the fun into fundraising. In addition to charging £1 to attend, why not set a quiz, arrange a board games tournament, a crafts workshop, a movie marathon, a talent competition or karaoke session?

Thank you for your fundraising – we really appreciate it! You can donate the funds you raise via Just Giving – https://www.justgiving.com/rhcgc You could set up your own pyjama party Just Giving page too.
