Utility Source Powers Transformation of Historic Coltran Mill in Mexborough

Utility Source Ltd has been appointed to deliver essential utility infrastructure for the redevelopment of Coltran Mill in Mexborough, a landmark project set to transform the historic building into 60 luxury apartments and 26 homes.

Led by The Investment Room Ltd, with construction by Scorpion Construction UK Ltd, the development combines heritage preservation with modern living. Inspired by the mill workers’ cottages of the past, the design will breathe new life into one of Mexborough’s iconic sites, which was among the first to be added to Doncaster’s Local Heritage List.

The project presents unique challenges due to the site’s ageing utility infrastructure, with some connections dating back to the early 20th century. Utility Source has been tasked with delivering a comprehensive package of utility works, including temporary power for construction, upgrades to drainage systems, and new connections for water, electricity, and telecom services. Electric vehicle charging points will also be installed, ensuring the site is future-ready.
