Whyy? Change nominated for Training Provider of the Year Award

Whyy? Change has been shortlisted for the prestigious title of Training Provider of the Year at the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards

The Rotherham-based apprenticeship training provider has also seen two of their talented apprentices shortlisted for multiple apprenticeship awards.

With Kiya Cannon, Administrator of Oliver Law Security (OLS Ltd), shortlisted for Higher Apprentice of the Year, which celebrates the success of apprentices on a Level 4 (Foundation degree equivalent) apprenticeship in South Yorkshire.

Kiya is currently undertaking a Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship with Whyy? Change. Kiya joined the programme in March 2023, when her employer, OLS Limited, identified an opportunity to expand the marketing elements of Kiya’s role.

Kiya’s, CIM Marketing Tutor, Laura Stead shared:

“Kiya’s dedication to her apprenticeship is evident in her exemplary attendance and consistently valuable contributions to our weekly workshops.

Throughout her apprenticeship, Kiya has shown 100% dedication and commitment to growing her knowledge base and developing her skills. Witnessing her apply her newly acquired marketing knowledge directly to her job role has been incredibly rewarding. Kiya is also a valuable asset to her peers, offering support and sharing insights gained from our sessions.

The high quality of Kiya’s mini-projects exemplifies the significant skills she has developed. Her journey has seen her confidence grow significantly. I’m confident that Kiya is a rising marketing star with a promising career ahead of her.”

Amy Webster, Recruitment Consultant at Oliver King Consulting has been shortlisted for the Professional Services Apprentice of the Year. Amy is currently studying towards her Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship in addition to a CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice qualification, included in her apprenticeship.

Amy’s CIPD Tutor, Laura Wright said:

“I was over the moon to hear that Amy had been nominated but not at all surprised.  Amy has grown in confidence since starting her apprenticeship and has demonstrated all the attributes required to be successful:  having an enquiring mind; showing commitment to work hard, being ‘present’ in all sessions, actively participating and engaging with other learners.  This nomination is well deserved and I’m sure that Amy is destined for success in whatever she chooses to do next.”

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) Level 3 Certificate in People Practice qualification has enabled Amy to develop her recruitment skills, ability design policies and processes effectively whilst implementing reward strategies at an operational level.

Upon finding out the news of Whyy? Change’s nomination, Emma Harrison PCQI, Managing Director of Whyy? Change, added:

“I’m thrilled that Whyy? Change has been nominated for a fourth consecutive year as it demonstrates the level of quality and consistency that we have adopted and maintain year on year.

It’s a huge privilege to be shortlisted in such prestigious awards which are celebrating people wanting to learn and progress their careers, what better way to do this amongst like-minded businesses. Whyy are focused on the individual and their learning experience and it’s important that this is recognised alongside the achievement.”

When asked about the impact the training has had on apprentices at Whyy? Change, Emma added:

“The apprenticeship programmes have had a huge impact on the learners we work with, so much so, we have had multiple learners return to us for their second apprenticeships as their careers have progressed. Most have grown in confidence and feel they add true value to the businesses they work for. Gaining a professional qualification alongside many of the apprenticeships has been significant to many learners as this has led to them feeling more credible and respected in their roles.”
