Doncaster Business Conference

April 21, 2017 at 8:00 AM- 1:00 PM

21 April, 8.00am – 1.00pm at The Legacy Centre

The Doncaster Business Conference is back for its third year, with an incredible line up of guest speakers and panellists, discussing the matters which are important to Doncaster businesses.

The event serves as a stocktake for Doncaster’s economy and allows the private sector to air its views on the challenges and opportunities facing them. The event helps to inform the Chamber’s policy priorities for the following twelve months and, importantly, allows for a high level discourse to take place between the borough’s businesses and local, regional and national stakeholders that have an influence on the Borough.

The event will focus on two key themes for Doncaster:

• How can we set the city standard?
• How do we become an education city?

The event will be facilitated by Professor Kevin Kerrigan (Pro Vice Chancellor for Enterprise and the Dean of the Sheffield Business School).

Speakers and panellists include:

Andrew Percy MP, Caroline Flint MP, Dan Fell (Chief Executive Officer, Doncaster Chamber), Dave Sheridan (Chief Executive, Keepmoat Group), Dave Smith (Managing Director, Sheffield City Region), Dr Adam Marshall (Director General, British Chambers of Commerce), Dr Ann Limb (Chair, Education and Skills Commission), Gary Gee (Rossington Hall Golf Developments), Greg Wright (Deputy Business Editor, The Yorkshire Post ), Janis James (Head Teacher, Bentley High Street Primary School), Kelvin Fitton (President, Doncaster Chamber and Partner, Smith Craven), Professor Heather Campbell (The University of Sheffield), Rachel Davis (Interim Principal and Chief Executive, Doncaster College) and Wes Sugden Brook (Director, Drenched).

Mayoral Hustings

For the first time the Conference will also include a mayoral hustings style event which will see mayoral candidates from the main local parties, including the current Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones, go head to head in a debate around the key issues which matter to local businesses.

There will be opportunities to ask questions and get direct answers from the people who are competing to represent the town and its interests, ahead of the mayoral election on the 4 May.
