Internet of Things (IoT), 5G connectivity, edge computing, and Artificial Intelligence are potentially valuable assets for manufacturers. However, matching capabilities of IoT technologies with digitally enabled business model processes and leveraging them can be challenging for many SMEs. How can you ensure business-readiness for Industry 4.0 revolution? How do you determine the right integration of IoT technologies for your specific use case? In a world that is increasingly connected, have you thought about cybersecurity and what that means to your business?

Join us at our workshop on the 9th March to hear from Sheffield Hallam’s academic experts from the Centre for Automation and Robotics. We will be discussing the transition towards Industry 4.0 and the roles IoT and Automation will play.

This workshop provides an opportunity to network with other businesses in your sector and explore how collaborating with the university can help your business grow.

You will find out about the potential funding opportunities available to SMEs through Digital Innovation for Growth and how we can support businesses in and around the Sheffield City Region to grow and innovate through access to the latest technologies, cutting-edge facilities, and academic expertise.

This workshop will focus on:

  • Capabilities and benefits of 5G/LP-WANs to businesses
  • Cybersecurity
  • Enabling IoT technology with low-cost platforms and software tools
  • Industry 4.0 concepts and examples of application in industrial automation
  • Future manufacturing and Industry 4.0 readiness assessments
  • How regional SMEs can access free business support
