Everyone here at our Chamber is greatly saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Joada Allen, President of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber, said: “The sad news has had a deep impression on many of us at the Chamber, for our members, my fellow directors and all the staff.

“Over most of our lifetimes, we have not known another monarch. Her inspiration and resilience, often during very challenging times showed a  remarkable commitment to duty, which she continued to show right until the very end.

“We know from experience the Queen was also a strong supporter of business and the work that we do, indeed as Patron for the British Chambers of Commerce network.

“Locally a number of our members have received deserved Queen’s Awards as an acknowledgement of their contributions to Innovation Excellence and International Trade.

“With all of that said, on behalf of the Chamber, I send my condolences to the Royal Family at this difficult time and pay tribute to Her Majesty’s long years of service to the country.”
